Mr. Castillo has unrivalled experience and expertise. He has been practicing law for over 55 years, advising some the most noteworthy companies in the Dominican Republic and nearly all the major banks in Latin America.

Mr. Castillo leverages his thorough understanding of the commercial and financial landscape on behalf of all the firm’s clients, advising attorneys on long term strategies and crisis management.

His extensive professional experience includes both non-contentious and contentious matters, advising on mergers and acquisitions, project finance, complex financial transactions, securitizations, corporate and commercial issues, banking and finance, capital markets, foreign investment, contracts, civil and commercial litigation and real estate law across a range of industries and sectors.

Chambers and Partners ranked him as Senior Statesman, describing him as a distinguished figure in the corporate and commercial field, with over 50 years of experience in advising on complex issues in this practice.

In addition to advising clients, Mr. Castillo is also a prominent and active member of several boards of directors and administrative councils and holds senior positions on a number of committees. He is a member of the board of Banco Popular Dominicano, Popular Group and Popular Bank Limited, the latter based in Panamá. He also presides over its Corporate Governance committees.

Currently, Mr. Castillo serves as Treasurer of Sur Futuro Foundation, Secretary of Fundación Popular and member of several institutions including Asociación para el Desarrollo de la Microempresa (Ademi), Fundación Institucionalidad y Justicia (FINJUS), Fundación Perelló, American Chamber of Commerce, among others.

He is also highly committed to pro bono work, as a member of the board of various no-profit organizations including Sociedad Dominicana de Bibliófilos, el Patronato del Instituto Nacional de la Diabetes y el Patronato de la Universidad Iberoamericana (UNIBE).

In recognition of Mr. Castillo’s contribution to the Dominican Republic, he has been honored by the President with the Duarte, Sánchez and Mella Order of Merit, Gran Cruz, Silver Plaque. This is the highest distinction that can be awarded by the Government of the Dominican Republic to honor meritorious individuals.
